Doodle Fiction, Manga and Graphic Novel
                It's Differences and Similarities

Introduction

Our world recognizes increased globalization, 21st century learning refers to the skills and technologies that will position our students to succeed in a world that ever increasingly requires collaboration, critical thinking, adaptability, grit, perseverance and relies less on the learning of facts and data. Various forms of illustrated fiction have emerged in the twenty-first century.

To better understand the differences between graphic novels, doodles, and manga. I'll use this blog to compare and contrast their various genres  in terms their  of structure and elements. In addition, I'll talk about the similarities and differences between these  subgenres.

A graphic novel is a book made up of comics content. Although the word "novel" normally refers to long fictional works, the term "graphic novel" is applied broadly and includes fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work. Graphic novels can be fiction, non-fiction, history, fantasy, or anything in-between. Graphic novels are similar to comic books because they use sequential art to tell a story. There are as many genres and sub-genres as in traditional fiction and non-fiction."Graphic Novel" is a publishing format, not a literary style. Graphic novels can cover a wide range of topics, including fiction, nonfiction, history, and fantasy. In that they use sequential art to tell a story, graphic novels are very similar to comic books and vice versa. Graphic novels, as opposed to comic books, are longer works with more complex plots.
One of the example is the; The Avengers a fictional team of superheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The team made its debut in The Avengers #1 (cover-dated Sept. 1963), created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby.

Doodle-Fiction A literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle drawings and hand written graphics in place of traditional font. Drawings enhance the story, often adding humorous elements that would be missing if the illustrations were omitted. Doodle-Fiction.
If you don't have traditional font, you can use doodle drawings and handwritten graphics instead. Drawings enrich the story by adding humorous elements that wouldn't be there without the illustrations. Doodle-Fiction. The "executive resources" of the brain that help us plan, multitask, and concentrate are engaged when we doodle. It also serves as a buffer between the extremes of thinking too much or too little, and it aids in keeping one's attention on the present situation. The most obvious structural difference between this book and Doodle Fictions is its content. Doodle Fictions, as opposed to Manga and Graphic Novels, have a novel or story book-style narration.

Example: The Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

Manga are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Most manga conform to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century, and the form has a long prehistory in earlier Japanese art. The term manga is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. Manga are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. The word "manga" comes from the Japanese word 漫画, (katakana: マンガ; hiragana: まんが) composed of the two kanji 漫 (man) meaning "whimsical or impromptu" and 画 (ga) meaning "pictures". The same term is the root of the Korean word for comics, "manhwa", and the Chinese word "manhua".
Manga is a broad term that covers a wide range of Japanese comic books and graphic novels. The majority of Japanese manga are published in black and white, as opposed to the full color of American comic books. Full-color prints are typically reserved for limited-edition releases. japanese manga is read right to left instead of left to right, as is customary in English-language works. There is a learning curve if you have only ever read in English, but once you get used to it, it won't be a problem.

One of the example is the Naruto is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village

Differences in Terms of Structure

Doodle Fictions follow a novel or story book type of narration, Doodle fictions show both text and pictures in a way like articles are written, while, the comic book styles don't.

Manga are comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. Most manga conform to a style developed in Japan in the late 19th century, and the form has a long prehistory in earlier Japanese art. The term manga is used in Japan to refer to both comics and cartooning. The structural differences between manga and graphic novels are minimal because both are written in a comic book style. Both use panels to divide scenes and speech bubbles to convey ideas. Instead of reading left to right, manga is read top to bottom. Visual novels are read left to right.

Graphic novels are distinguished from picture books and illustrated novels by the fact that the story is told using a combination of words and pictures on the page. Just like their prose counterparts, graphic novels can be of any genre and tell any kind of story. When it comes to the format, it's usually composed of text, images and word balloons with sound effects as well as a series of panels to tell the story.

Similarities - Manga, Doodle Fiction and Graphic Novel share many similarities. Drawings, illustrations, or graphics are used to tell the story. To make things even clearer, each of these designs features an image that grabs the attention of readers. They're all from the twenty-first century. There would be no genres if digital processes and computers weren't involved.

Differences in Terms of Elements

Doodle Fiction incorporates handwritten graphics in telling the story, it is a literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle drawings and hand written graphics in place of traditional font.

Manga also has what is called the elements of manga or the grammar of manga: 1) picture (depicting objects and figures), 2) word (including onomatopoeia), 3) balloon (indicating words), and 4) frame (surrounding pictures) (Natsume, 1997). Japanese word for comics It is used in the English-speaking world as a generic term for all comic books and graphic novels, originally published in Japan. Ameri-manga- sometimes used to refer to comics created by American artists in manga style. Manga is a colloquial term for both comics and cartoons in Japanese.

A Graphic Novel uses the interplay of text and illustrations in a comic-strip format to tell a story. Instead of relying on just text to construct a narrative, it uses graphical elements such as panels, frames, speech/thought balloons, etc. in a sequential way to create and evoke a story in a reader's mind. A graphic novel is a book that tells a story through sequential art, either in an experimental or traditional comics format
